From Years 1 to 5, students strengthen their reading, writing, math, and science skills as they explore the world around them.
Language practices and meaningful literacy
Students develop effective literacy skills in Portuguese lessons in the Elementary School, progressing in reading and writing through meaningful social language practices. Lessons focus on mastering the alphabetic system, expanding vocabulary, and using language in diverse contexts.
Emphasis is placed on text production, reading, oral communication, and linguistic analysis, alongside regular exposure to high-quality literary works. Literary education fosters creativity, authorship, and a love of reading, supporting the comprehensive development of students’ communication skills.
Expressing through rhythm and sound
Children develop sensitivity, expression, and sound perception in Music lessons, broadening their cultural repertoire. Lessons emphasize active listening, experimentation with sounds, rhythms, and melodies, and musical experiences through singing, movement, and instruments.
Through these practices, students cultivate creativity, coordination, attention, and musical appreciation, recognizing music as a form of cultural and artistic expression across contexts and cultures.
Observation, experimentation, and hands-on problem-solving Students take an active role in Science through inquiry-based learning. By observing, experimenting, and solving problems, they develop curiosity, critical thinking, and the ability to support ideas with evidence.
Learning connects theory and practice, relates science to everyday life, and encourages care for the body, the environment, and society.
Investigating time, identities and diverse histories
Students develop an understanding of time, social relationships, and identity through History teaching in the Elementary School, grounded in their experiences and daily lives.
Lessons prioritize inquiry and the analysis of historical sources, encouraging reflection on change, continuity, and respect for cultural diversity. Activities foster critical thinking and an appreciation of different human experiences, helping to shape thoughtful, responsible citizens.
Exploring geographic space and society–nature relationships
Learners develop an understanding of geographic space and the relationship between society and nature through Geography teaching in the Elementary years, starting from their daily lives and extending to the community and the wider world.
Lessons involve observation, investigation, and the use of multiple languages, such as maps, images, and records, fostering the reading and interpretation of lived spaces. Geography education supports students in understanding the spaces they inhabit, respecting diversity, and acting responsibly in the world.
Logical reasoning through concrete learning
Students develop logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through Mathematics learning. By investigating real-life situations and using numbers to understand their world, students explore concepts concretely, pictorially, and abstractly - first with manipulatives, then visual representations, and finally using symbols and numbers independently - building a solid foundation appropriate to each grade level.
Develop emotional intelligence and resilience
Engaging with stories, perspectives, and meanings
Students expand their reading, interpretation, and analysis skills as Literary Projects grow in depth each year. Thoughtfully selected texts inspire meaningful conversations about social, cultural, and human themes, helping learners connect literature to their own experiences and think critically.
Through dialogue, creative writing, and interactive literary activities, they develop a genuine appreciation for language, widen their worldview, and strengthen the connection between school learning and life beyond the classroom.
Exploring movement, teamwork, and wellbeing
In Physical Education, students’ holistic development is supported through movement, play, games, sports, dance, and rhythmic activities.
These physical experiences strengthen motor skills, coordination, balance, and body awareness. Lessons encourage cooperation, respect for rules, social interaction, and care for the body in a playful, inclusive environment, promoting independence, wellbeing, and positive social behaviors.
Creating, experimenting, leading
Children explore hands-on projects in Little Maker, building creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving as they design, test, and refine ideas. They collaborate with peers and discover new ways to bring their thinking to life.
Each project strengthens their sense of agency, empowering them to take the lead and transform imagination into action.
Imagining and creating
Students develop creativity, sensitivity, and self-expression through Art education, exploring visual arts, music, dance, and theater. Lessons emphasize experimentation, appreciation, and creation, broadening students’ cultural repertoire.
Through these practices, students cultivate imagination, aesthetic sense, authorship, and respect for cultural diversity, understanding art as a form of expression, communication, and meaning-making.

Bi-monthly pedagogical meetings - and additional conversations whenever needed - ensure families and teachers work together to celebrate achievements and support every student’s learning journey.
Every day, learners build social, communication, and collaboration skills while curiosity, self-awareness, and autonomy grow through play, projects, and reflection.
Conflict resolution and critical thinking come to life when students solve problems together and learn to see different perspectives. Reading, writing and logical reasoning are woven into every lesson, helping students connect ideas and express themselves clearly. Responsibility and citizenship shine as students take ownership of their actions and step up to help others.
Guided by the Programa Semente and Maker activities, they become curious, adaptable, and confident, ready to thrive independently and as part of a team.
Students at Progresso Bilíngue Vinhedo grow as bilingual learners through a balanced 50/50 curriculum in English and Portuguese. Every day, they deepen reading, writing and maths skills by tackling engaging projects and working together on collaborative challenges.
Teachers track progress closely - watching how students learn in class, checking in with bi-monthly assessments and using the annual Avant exam. This approach helps students build fluency and confidence across all four English language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students own their progress, step up in every lesson and get ready to connect with the world.
Each year, learners engage in ILOS opportunities - such as ISP Artists, Chess Masters, and Scientists - immersing themselves in enriching international experiences that broaden horizons, spark curiosity, and nurture global awareness from an early age.
Starting from Elementary school, learners at Progresso Bilíngue Vinhedo step up to national and international academic competitions, testing their skills in Olympiads such as Canguru de Matemática Brasil and Matific, and growing in confidence year after year.
