From Years 1 to 5, students develop skills in reading, writing, and science, while also building an understanding of the natural environment and the social and political world around them.
Sharing stories and ideas
Students read enchanting stories, write their own narratives, and share discoveries with the class. They ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully to their classmates, and talk about what truly matters. In group projects, they lead class discussions and collaborate so that everyone can learn together. Each day, they become more confident communicators and imaginative writers.
In Portuguese, students practice reading, comprehension, and writing, while valuing the culture of Itu and citizenship. They also expand their vocabulary, spark creativity, and build independence through daily reading and writing.
Expressing through rhythm and voice
Students feel the rhythm, sing, play instruments, and create sounds with their friends. Through musical games, they train their ears, learn melodies, and let their imaginations soar. They explore music from Brazil and around the world, discover different cultures, and connect with stories from the past through sound.
When students sing, play, and compose, their bodies and minds work together. Concentration improves, coordination becomes sharper, and their hearts fill with creativity. In this way, they discover who they are and feel part of their class and the culture of Itu.
Caring, feeling, and growing together
Students strengthen their social-emotional skills through the Semente Program, with activities designed for each age group. Playful experiences, moments of reflection, and group work help them understand their own feelings, practice empathy, and learn how to calm themselves. Little by little, they gain greater independence and build true friendships.
As they face challenges and celebrate each achievement, students develop emotional intelligence and recognize that they are part of a community that welcomes, supports, and grows together every day.
Discovering storing around us
Students investigate how people lived, worked, and had fun in the past. They observe old photos of Itu, compare today’s games with those their grandparents played, and listen to stories about the school, the neighborhood, and their families. Through timelines, objects, and personal accounts, they begin to understand change over time and take their first steps in reading and interpreting the past.
By noticing how traditions are preserved and transformed, students gain a better understanding of the present. History values memories, encourages respect for differences, and helps shape citizens who recognize their role, participate actively, and build a future rooted in identity.
Exploring our world
Students discover, through hands-on learning, how society and nature interact every day. They observe the landscapes of Itu, compare the school, the neighborhood, and the square, and learn to find their way using the sun, churches, and other landmarks. Through maps, drawings, and photos, they develop spatial awareness and begin their cartographic literacy.
By understanding how people transform and care for places, students gain a better understanding of their environment. Geography values diversity, awakens environmental and civic awareness, and helps shape classes that think, participate, and build sustainable relationships from an early age.
Exploring stories, voices, and ideas
Students develop reading, listening, and speaking skills in English through literary projects that grow each year. Books, songs, and stories in English bring themes from everyday life, local culture, and other countries, creating meaningful classroom conversations. In this way, the English language connects to real life and encourages critical thinking from an early age.
Through games, role-play, creative writing, and group discussions, students build a love for English. They expand their vocabulary, discover new cultures, and gain a broader understanding of the world around them, with confidence to communicate.
Moving, playing, and discovering
Students take part in Physical Education classes that strengthen motor skills, coordination, balance, agility, and endurance. Through games and playful activities, they learn to work as a team, practice empathy, and respect rules. The priority is learning together and having fun, with competition taking a secondary role.
Through these experiences, students come to understand movement as a way to express themselves, make friends, and care for their health. In this way, they build from an early age the foundation for an active, joyful, and healthy life both inside and outside of school.
Creating, experimenting, re-inventing
In the Maker spaces designed for Elementary School, students explore freely. They cut, glue, code, build circuits, and bring their own ideas to life. With each project, they strengthen motor skills, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Working as a team, they share materials, agree on rules, and celebrate every attempt, because here mistakes become learning opportunities.
By building with their own hands, learners understand that they can create anything. The act of inventing strengthens self-expression, connection with classmates, and the joy of learning without limits. It is the first step in a journey of innovation, independence, and student agency.
Solving real-world challenges
Math becomes meaningful when students connect numbers and shapes to everyday life at our school. Through games, fairs, and real-life challenges, they explore operations, measurements, and geometric figures, learning to interpret and solve problems independently. Each activity begins with concrete situations drawn from the city and from children’s daily routines.
As they investigate patterns, spatial relationships, and different paths to a solution, students strengthen logical reasoning, creativity, and argumentation. This experience builds confidence and prepares them to use mathematical thinking in shopping, on journeys, and in everything that is part of everyday life.
Exploring through experimentation
Students explore the natural, social, and technological world with curious eyes and plenty of questions. Through observations, experiments, drawings, and records, they build knowledge actively, connecting each discovery to everyday life in Itu. The classroom becomes a laboratory, and the neighborhood becomes a field of investigation.
They study the human body, the animals and plants of the region, materials and their changes, as well as Earth, space, and the technologies found at home. They also learn to care for themselves, their classmates, and the environment, practicing responsible, thoughtful, and collaborative attitudes from an early age.
Imagining and creating
In the Art studio at Colégio Progresso Bilíngue Itu, students experiment with paints, clay, fabrics, and recyclable materials, discovering techniques and visual styles. In a space designed to create without fear, they develop imagination, creativity, and personal expression. Over time, their work gains more elaborate composition, color, shape, and texture, and each child learns to value both their own art and that of their classmates.
Art connects with the world of Itu and the cultures of Brazil. In dedicated spaces, students interpret images, expand their cultural awareness, and build a rich visual vocabulary to understand and transform what they see.
At Progresso Itu, students gain independence and confidence. With a strong academic foundation, a collaborative approach, and a multilingual environment, they are prepared for a global future.

Progress is closely monitored by the academic team through daily observations, bi-monthly assessments, and the annual Avant exam from Year 2 onward. In this way, students gain fluency and confidence in the four English language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Students take part in national and international academic competitions and enjoy annual educational trips. They explore destinations that connect classroom theory to real-world practice.
