Adaptation in Early Years:

The adaptation process is a crucial moment in school life, marking the beginning of the emotional bond between children, teachers, and the learning environment. For this transition to be successful, it is essential that parents feel secure, confident, and certain that they are providing the ideal conditions for their child to face this new challenge.

Aware of the importance of this moment, we are implementing two specific actions to support families and new students:

Conversation Circle: “Adaptation in Early Years”

  • A space to discuss the topic, share experiences, and answer questions.

Specific Adaptation Schedule

  • Reduced hours in small groups to provide personalized support.
  • Guidance from Early Years teachers, the counselor, and the coordinator.
  • The detailed schedule is shared with families in advance.

Adaptation in the other school sections:

At the school, we value the adaptation process for new students. From Year 1 onward, students are welcomed by the School Counselor, Coordinator, Teachers, and a few classmates before their first day of school.

On this special day, new students take part in an integration activity with their classmates. The School Counselor introduces them to the school spaces, shares details about daily school life, and everyone has a snack together.

This welcoming approach is essential to ensure that new students feel safe and welcome from the very beginning. It is a time to build connections, become familiar with the school environment, and begin their journey with confidence.

Year 2 – We begin formal assessments in Year 2 through assessment activities, Literary Projects (English and Portuguese), and Integrated Projects.

Years 3 to 5 – Bimonthly assessments, Literary Projects, and Integrated Projects.

Years 6 to 9 – Partial assessments (test format), bimonthly assessments (open-ended questions), Literary Projects (English, Portuguese, and Spanish), and research projects (group and individual).

High School – Mock exams (test format), bimonthly assessments (open-ended questions), and research projects (group and individual).

The methodology used is ISP's Learning.First™ approach, developed by International Schools Partnership - ISP.

It is learner-centered and is based on:

  • Learning Improvement Process (LIP) — a continuous improvement framework with criteria focused on learning impact
  • Personalization — each student follows a learning pathway tailored to their needs and pace
  • Language immersion — extensive use of foreign languages in daily school life
  • Five learning pillars — Academic Achievement, Multilingualism, Life Competencies, International Opportunities, and Future Pathways.

Yes! We welcome new students throughout the school year, subject to availability.

Progresso Bilíngue Itu follows a bilingual curriculum based on Brazil’s BNCC (National Common Core Curriculum), enhanced by Cambridge International and global best practices to support academic and personal growth.

Children can join from Early Years (ages 1–5) and continue through High School (ages 15–18), progressing through a structured bilingual learning journey.

Students learn daily in Portuguese and English through immersive bilingual experiences. Spanish is introduced as a third language, with students progressing toward B2-level proficiency.

Progresso Itu combines a 125+ year educational legacy, bilingual learning, strong academic performance, life competency development, and global opportunities through the International Schools Partnership (ISP).

Beyond academics, students build confidence, creativity, teamwork, leadership, and socio-emotional skills through sports, arts, music, Student Council, and community activities.

Programa Semente is a structured programme integrated into the curriculum that helps students develop life competencies, emotional intelligence, social awareness, and wellbeing.

Yes. Students actively participate in national and international Olympiads and competitions, including Kangaroo Math Competition and International Math Without Borders, where they have achieved strong results and medals.

From Middle School onward, students receive personalised guidance through Career Week, university workshops, campus visits, and international fairs, helping them explore future pathways confidently.

Parents are key partners in the learning journey. The school maintains strong communication through individual meetings, quarterly family events, and specialist-led parent sessions.

Students receive personalised academic and pastoral support from a specialised guidance team that closely monitors progress, identifies learning needs, and provides targeted interventions to help every student thrive.

Progresso Itu provides a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students feel confident to learn, grow, and build healthy relationships, with wellbeing and emotional development embedded in school life.
