Middle School

Students in Lower Secondary School at Colégio Bilíngue Progresso Unidade Indaiatuba develop their academic and socio-emotional skills through a balanced and continuous assessment process that values both creativity and mastery of the essential competencies in each subject area.

Throughout their journey, they produce literary and research projects, take part in collaborative group activities, and complete structured assessments that monitor their progress consistently. These experiences allow students to connect different areas of knowledge, strengthen communication, and develop greater autonomy.

Through the wide range of assessment strategies used by the school, students strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to apply knowledge in real and meaningful contexts. In this way, they take ownership of their learning and build a school journey that is more conscious, responsible, and well prepared for future challenges.

At Colégio Progresso Bilíngue Indaiatuba, throughout Elemntary and Middle School, students develop a broad set of life skills that help them build confidence and succeed both personally and academically.

• Collaboration and empathy: through group projects, student-led initiatives, and open discussions, students strengthen their communication, teamwork, and empathy. They learn to give and receive feedback, resolve conflicts, and collaborate effectively.
• Digital fluency: students use digital tools to research, collaborate, and create responsibly, while also learning to evaluate information critically and navigate the digital world with confidence.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving: students take part in experiments and interdisciplinary projects that challenge them to analyse, evaluate, and apply knowledge in real-world situations.

In Middle School, students take ownership of their language-learning journey, becoming increasingly fluent in Portuguese and English throughout each year group. They also have the opportunity to learn a third language, with Spanish offered as an additional language, while developing intercultural awareness and communication skills.

Students’ progress in language learning is carefully monitored through classroom observations and regular reviews of their work. They take internal assessments every two months and, each year, sit an English proficiency exam that provides a clear picture of each student’s development.

Students at Progresso Bilíngue Indaiatuba enrich their learning through national and international competitions in areas such as Maths, Science, and Languages, which strengthen logical reasoning, intellectual curiosity, and their ability to take on academic challenges at different levels of complexity.

They also take part in carefully planned educational trips that connect classroom learning to real-world experiences, broadening their understanding of the world and making learning more meaningful and contextualised.

Through ISP’s ILOS programmes, students explore their interests in areas such as the Arts, Science, leadership, and global citizenship. In these programmes, they collaborate with peers from different countries, develop intercultural competencies, and strengthen essential skills for an increasingly connected, dynamic, and global future.

In Middle School, they take part in workshops and seminars with professionals from a range of fields, gaining valuable insights into different career pathways and the expectations of the world of work.

Through extracurricular opportunities such as research projects, academic competitions, and international programmes, students develop practical experience, confidence, and essential skills for the future.
