IB Diploma Programme

Students in the IB Diploma Programme, aged 16 to 19, take part in a rigorous two-year curriculum. They develop critical-thinking skills, strengthen their autonomy, and gain a global perspective.

By taking part in this internationally recognised programme, students prepare for academic success at prestigious universities around the world, including in Brazil.

Our IB Diploma Programme curriculum

At Progresso Bilíngue Indaiatuba, the Integrated Curriculum combines the IB Diploma Programme with the Brazilian curriculum, enabling students to earn both Brazilian and international diplomas.

Over two years, students study six subject groups, selecting courses at Higher Level and Standard Level. This rigorous academic pathway prepares them for success at leading universities in Brazil and around the world.

Subject groups

Students choose one subject from each group:

  • Group 1 and 2: Language and Literature - students analyze texts, explore literary techniques, and deepen their understanding of their native language through reading, writing, and discussion.
  • Group 3: Individuals and Societies - students investigate human behavior, historical events, and global systems by conducting research, debating ideas, and exploring social sciences.
  • Group 4: Sciences - students explore the natural world through experiments, data analysis, and inquiry in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental sciences.
  • Group 5: Math - students solve problems, reason critically, and apply mathematical concepts to real-life contexts through courses aligned with their goals.
  • Group 6: Arts - students express themselves through visual arts, music, theatre, or dance - or choose an additional subject from Groups 2, 3, or 4 to expand their learning.

Core components

All students complete three core components designed to stretch thinking, challenge assumptions, and build independence:

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK): students question how we know what we know - across disciplines, cultures, and belief systems
  • Extended Essay (EE): students choose a topic and produce a 4,000-word research paper - an academic challenge that mirrors university expectations
  • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS): students plan and lead their own initiatives - from launching student-led podcasts to organizing community impact projects

Matheus

It was a tremendous honor to be part of the school and everything it stands for.

I can’t imagine being the Matheus I am today - having the same achievements, being the person I am, having the principles I hold, and the determination to reach my goals - without the strong foundation I received at Progresso.
